I’ve never met a taco I didn’t like. (Except for that one time in Montana, when I went to a restaurant that bragged about being “home of the fluffy taco.” Yeah, those were awful. But that’s a story in itself and we’ll just save that one for another day.) Basically, we have some version of tacos every other week (if not EVERY week… because #tacosarelife) but I’m especially fond of Venison Tacos because we always have a freezer full of venison burger and they are literally the easiest meal EVER.

These are a week night staple in our household. This homemade taco seasoning is great with venison but you could use it with any type of meat (hamburger, ground turkey, chicken.) Enjoy!

The Best Venison Tacos with homemade seasoning

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground venison
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1-1/2 tsp Cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp Oregano, dried
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup cold water
– Brown 1lb ground venison (You can use hamburger, ground turkey, any kind of ground meat you like.)
– In a bowl, mix all spices together.
– Once burger is browned, drain if needed. Stir in spices, then add water and stir until mixed in. Simmer until thickened and most of the water has evaporated. Serve on your favorite taco shells and add your favorite toppings.
